Valerie coaches clients privately, in small group settings, and leads seminars and workshops.  Her coaching practice, based in New York City, serves clients in both the United States and Canada.

Qualifications

Valerie attended two of Canada’s most prestigious universities, where she earned two law degrees (McGill University) and a psychology degree (Queen’s University).  To enhance her skills as a coach, Valerie obtained her certification through The Coaches Training Institute (www.thecoaches.com) in New York City.

Career

As a lawyer, Valerie worked at two of Canada’s most respected law firms.  She practiced labour and employment law, as well as general litigation.  She advised executives of major corporations in matters relating to wrongful dismissal, discrimination, workplace injuries, and labour relations issues.  She also counseled clients on sound management practices, improved relationships with employees, and retention measures to prevent the loss of top talent.

After a number of years as a lawyer in private practice, Valerie joined the labour relations group of a corporation with 72,000 employees.  Valerie led a team of employees, and worked closely with executives to draft policies for workplace management issues, including improved employee morale and the reduction of employee grievances and arbitrations.  Valerie also maintained an open dialogue and productive relationship with one of the company’s unions and traveled the country speaking to employees about current and pressing labour relations issues.

Valerie now applies her advisory skills and depth of experience to the Professional Coaching field.  She commits herself to her clients as a dedicated, driven professional who brings courage and honesty to the coaching relationship.
